I have read through the information about branding. I can the logic of the argument about deciding what image or images you want to project of yourself and whether you need to 'adopt' separate personas for the different aspect of your life.
I am still wary of putting into a public domain lots of personal information. It still feels like you are being a "notice box" (phrase used originally by teacher Mrs Kelly, top infants class, during the 1960s, at St Peter's RC School which has stuck with me all these years).
Photos...again slight queasiness when it comes to putting pictures of myself online. Maybe will go for a photo of something else (not sure I know how to upload pics, so perhaps should try something if I am going to learn from this exercise!). Off to give it some more thought and look for some pics I happy with...

Beardy Manc Libraries Champion and All Round Diamond Geezer spotted in Prestwich!
Mancunian Music Maestro Guy Garvey joined in the recent campaign by local people to stop Bury Council's then Con-Dem Coalition from closing down Unsworth Library. He told how he had spent many an hour in that library, reading, thinking great thoughts and composing Elbow lyrics. The Library was supsequently given a reprieve for a year, in response to petitions and lots of publicity but now that Labour are back in power (after a seat in Ramsbottom (really!) had to be decided between 2 candidates who polled the same amount of votes drawing a short straw & the Labour candidate won, giving Labour a majority of 1 on Bury Council) it may be saved long term.
I was in the car on Tuesday, going along Bury Old Road in the vicinity of Armstrong's Chippy (self-styled 'Home of the Jumbo Cod') when I spotted Guy strolling along, looking up at sky. Perhaps he was on the look out for Starlings (see/hear 'Seldom Seen Kid' album for this) or some other species of bird. Made my day & prompted me to listen to One Day Like This & re-live happy memories of last 2 concerts at the MEN. Good Man, Yourself.

Lots of library related blogs!
I have had a look at a random selection of blogs of other participants on 23 things...the pull to spend ages checking out lots and lots of them is quite strong, but I am resisting it for now, as I have spent long enough on the computer!
The sight of 'a follower' was a little scary! (Thanks that person!). My next step will be to get together the courage to register as a follower of someone else. I had forgotten where to click to add a new post - clearly this isn't something that I am immediately adept at. More practice needed!

23 things for professional development
3rd time lucky, I have registered for the online 23 things for professional development course, which starts on Monday 20th June. It took me some while to find what my URL was (which led to 2 abortive attempts to sign up!) but finally I realised what it was I needed. Much hilarity in the family that I have a blog, and much singing of an adapted version of 'Wayne's World...party time...excellent!'.
Unsure how much I will get into blogging, but am told that it can be addictive...will see! I am looking forward to the challenge of 23 things...I am undertaking CILIP Certification & this course seemed like a timely opportunity.
